Seminar Series Funding opportunities for UW faculty to develop collaborative, interdisciplinary, year-long, faculty-graduate seminars on global, comparative or trans-area themes. Seminar Series funding is sponsored by the International Institute, Division of International Studies, and Global Studies. Proposals are due February 26, 2010.

Distinguished International Visitors Opportunities for UW faculty to invite international visitors of high visibility to the International Institute and UW-Madison. Distinguished International Visitor funding is sponsored by the International Institute. Proposals are due February 26, 2010.

Strategic Speakers in International Studies Opportunities for UW faculty to invite featured speakers of interest to International Institute member programs to the UW-Madison campus. Strategic Speaker funding is sponsored by the International Institute and Global Studies. Proposals are due February 26, 2010.

Wisconsin and Emerging Regional Powers: Visiting International Professor Funding opportunity for UW faculty to invite an international professor specializing in business for a semester-long visiting professorship in residence at the UW-Madison School of Business and the International Institute. Visiting professors will ideally focus on emerging regional powers such as Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Funding for this initiative is sponsored by the Division of International Studies, the Wisconsin School of Business, the International Institute, and the Tinker Committee. Proposals are due February 26, 2010.

WUN: Worldwide University Network International consortium of leading public research universities (including UW-Madison) that offers UW researchers funding for international collaborative research and virtual seminars involving other WUN member institutions.


For Graduate Students

FLAS: Foreign Language Area StudiesU.S. Department of Education foreign language fellowships available through the International Institute’s eight Title VI National Resource Centers.

Graduate Student International Field Research Award Funding opportunity for UW graduate students to conduct pre-dissertation and dissertation summer field research abroad. Graduate Student International Field Research Awards are sponsored by the Division of International Studies. Proposals are due October 16, 2009.

Scott Kloeck-Jenson Fellowship The SKJ fund supports UW-Madison graduate students working on social justice issurs through pre-dissertation research and international internship fellowships. Proposals are due annually in February for the following summer.
